Dustin Pedroia: Gun slinger

The other day Dustin Pedroia answered some questions that honest, every day people like you and I would ask him. However they weren't exactly on the level of some of the questions Steve and I had in mind, like:

Dustin, if the baseball thing didn't work out we assume you would have been a jockey. Any idea what you would have named your horse?

Too bad the questions were about his favorite player growing up and other crap that doesn't really dive deeply into the psyche of the smallest MVP ever. If you noticed though, he does give away some incriminating evidence when he admits to "playing backgammon" on plane rides with some of the other guys on the team. Now I don't need to paint a Gilbert Arenas/Dustin Pedroia painting (that's my best shot up top there though if I did have to paint a picture) but I'm guessing if one of these guys don't pay up there could be some boyz in the hood action at 30,000 feet. Dustin, don't hurt 'em.

I need action

The last few days were great but what the hell happened yesterday? No rumors, no more Sloth on a stage mumbling something through those busted chicklets he calls teeth, no Jessica Biel movies on tv ALL day? It's like the freezing cold has reached its' nipply hardening cold self into all the other good aspects of life and freezed them to death. There's gotta be some low tier free agent that can get us through the weekend? Some organizational depth? A fatter version of Dustin Pedroia that we can pass off as Chunk so he can follow Lackey around all day doing the truffle shuffle? Please Red Sox, for the sake of my boredom, do something else. What was that? You're in talks with Prince Fielder? Oh, do go on...

Straight outta short left field.

Dustin Pedroia, starting shortstop for The Boston Red Sox? ESPN is reporting Perdoia would be open to it.

"They've put it out there and I've told them I'm all for it. I can do it. I can't wait for Tito [Terry Francona] to call me and ask, 'Can you do it?' I can do it. I really want to do it."

Of course mighty mite is up for it, the guy would never turn down any kind of baseball opportunity. If it was V-Mart's day off and Tek got hurt I bet you'd see Pedroia putting on the shin pads before anyone else. Last year it was his whole thing of how he wanted to play all 162 games (he played 154) and now he's offering to move positions to help the team. Hope that makes Papelbon feel even worse when he starts b*tching about his arbitration offer in a few hours.

Not to mention this opens up a whole new can of worms with free agents and whatnot and it makes it quite possible that Marco Polo Scutaro won't be a Sox next year. Good stuff.

And the "short left field" thing was infact a knock on Pedroia's height. SS would now be "very short left field".

*Edit* - Just saw a quote from Dustin regarding playing short.

"Tell Jeter to enjoy the gold glove and silver slugger awards while he can."

That's our guy and I f*cking love it.
