Youk has been a pin cushion for quite some time now. Joba has thrown at him and now this Porcello kid hits him hard and then it's dance time and Youk went all charging bull on his ass. Not to be outdone, Tito then got thrown out arguing a JD "I could care less" Drew stolen base miscall at 2nd. Youk threw his helmet, Teets his gum, it was a big ol' angry mess.I'll go ahead and say this is what the Sox needed to blow off steam from their shit-tay weekend in the Bronx. Sure they won Monday night, but hitting a few more HRs and letting Youk run and get all punchy at stuff surely gets him back in the right frame of mind.
Now we (the fans, not the all encompassing we) get to wait and see how much time Youk is going to miss for challenging Porcello to an early UFC 102. It was worth it.
** One little thing to add. If you live, or have lived, in or around Boston then chances are you've listened to 104.1 WBCN before, and yesterday was their last day on the air. I know everyone is all XM this and Sirius that, but long before every car had a CD player or satellite radio you were forced to listen to the regular old radio and 'BCN has been the #1 preset on my radio since I could drive. On my way to work this morning when I heard "The Mix 104.1" my heart sank like it was 2003. I used to listen to Howard Stern at night on BCN and then in the mornings when that was just what you listened to. I've heard hundreds of concert announcements and listened to countless Patriot games with Gino and crew. Where ever I have lived, 104.1 has always been 'BCN to me and I don't think I can untrain my mind at this point. Alas, happy trails 'BCN, thank you for the River Raves and Sterns and O&A's and everything else, you will always be the lord of the Rock to me.

Ok, so, not happy about Youk missing games. But it's always so much fun to analyze who & why people get hit. Cabrera's wrists were in fact over the strike zone (thanks to MLB Network for that one), so he wasn't hit on purpose (ya, right). Rookies turned enforcers. If ya gut a problem, send the greenheads out....
Re: BCN. I'm going to show my age here - I remember BCN back in the 60's when it was an "underground" station. In the 70's during the Three-Mile Island meltdown, we were entertained by Dwayne Ingalls Glasscock & Charles Laquadiera. Mark Parenteau. The Big Mattress. Do a google search on Glasscock some day. THAT was hilarious radio. Until I moved outta Mass. in 1992, BCN was my #1 go-to radio station. And whenever I was within range, I'd switch it on. Although in recent years, it wasn't the same. They sold out to the machine. Very commercial. The 60's BCN was da bomb! Sitting around, torching up the wine-filled bong, tripping to Hendrix & Joplin....ya, man...now THAT was rock & rollllllllll...
I think that Kevin Youkilis looked like an idot when the 20yo rookie hiptossed him! He got what was comming to him thats for sure. What kind of pro athlete charges the mound anyway? That shows a direct reflection on his team!
I don't think you can discredit anyone from charging the mound. I agree it's not the most graceful move, but Youk has been a pin cushion for teams of late. Cabrera getting hit on the wrist was not intentional. I believe it was an 0-2 count and he didn't 100% turn into the ball, but as Jim Rice said, guys turn into the ball now where as before they would turn out. The Youk beaning was 100% intentional. Porcello used some sweet jujistu skill to throw Youk to the ground. Again, not graceful but the point was made.
I was not alive for the BCN of old and it's definitely never been an independent station in my day, but it's always been a rock station that lately has given a lot of DJs and jocks the chance to be on a historic channel. I'm definitely more nostalgic now that it's gone. Might be time for me to get Sirius or XM.
I don't know if the Youk beaning was intentional. may have been. but Youk does crowd the plate. even so, you can't fauly Youk for thinking it was on purpose. Either way, Porcello definitely went after Victor the inning before, and he was lucky Victor went into acrobatic mode to dodge it. For me, going after Victor would be enough for a suspension or fine, especially for interpreting Tazawa's hit on Cabrera as intentional. Isn't it funny how hitting chubby/ fat guys has incited fights lately? First the Prince Fielder thing last week where he tried to raid Dodger locker room. Now Cabrera. If your fatty fatness wasn't hanging over the plate, all would be fine.
